Private Lessons. Confident Voices.

Voice is deeply personal. Students are not just learning notes — they are learning confidence, healthy technique, and how to trust their own sound. Cincinnati School of Music offers private voice lessons for students ages 7 and up, at all five locations across Greater Cincinnati.

With voice teachers across all five locations, CSM can help students find someone who fits their age, goals, personality, and stage of growth. Beginners find their footing without pressure. Advanced students get teachers who hold them to a high standard. Every lesson is private, every student is taught as an individual, and the work always has a direction.

Where Are You Starting From?

01
Beginner
No experience needed. Breathing, posture, basic pitch, and tone production come first. Songs are chosen to match the student's voice and interests from the start — the goal is building confidence alongside technique.
02
Intermediate
Students with a foundation work on expanding range, dynamics, breath control, and more demanding repertoire. Lessons move beyond beginner material into music the student actually wants to perform.
03
Advanced
Technique refinement, audition preparation, musical theater, classical repertoire. Students preparing for college auditions, competitions, or serious individual study get faculty who can take them there.
04
Adult Beginners
Adults who've always wanted to sing — in church, in a band, at open mic nights, or simply around the house. Lessons move at your pace, on your terms, with no pressure or artificial milestones.
05
Young Students (Ages 7–10)
Voice is a developing instrument at this age, so lessons emphasize healthy habits, confidence, and fun. We do not rush technique or range — the goal is building a foundation the student can grow into.
06
Styles We Teach
Pop, musical theater, classical, gospel, R&B, jazz, Christian contemporary. Students are encouraged to bring the music they love. A teacher who teaches what you want to sing keeps students engaged.
Ella Vaughn, former Cincinnati School of Music student

Ella Vaughn started piano lessons at Cincinnati School of Music at age five. She later added guitar. When a broken wrist forced her off both instruments, she tried voice — and it turned out to be where she belonged.

Ella graduated from Walnut Hills High School and received a $10,000 scholarship at the Second Annual Schmidt Vocal Arts National Competition. She is attending Oberlin Conservatory. She has been a Cincinnati School of Music student since she was five years old.

Teachers Who Know the Instrument

01
Faculty with performance backgrounds
Our voice teachers understand the instrument from the inside — breath, resonance, placement, and the habits that are easy to build wrong. Good voice instruction starts with a teacher who has done the work themselves.
02
Healthy technique from lesson one
Voice is easy to damage when taught poorly. We build breath support, posture, and healthy production habits from the beginning — especially important for younger singers whose voices are still developing.
03
Confidence Beyond the Lesson Room
Voice students have recital opportunities throughout the year, giving them a supportive place to share what they are learning. Enrollment is month-to-month, with no contracts or semester minimums.

Simple Structure. Clear Expectations.

All voice lessons are private, one-on-one sessions. Lesson length is chosen based on the student's age, focus, and goals. Younger beginners typically start at 30 minutes. Students preparing for auditions or recitals benefit from longer sessions.

Lessons run seven days a week across our five locations. Many voice students also take piano or guitar at CSM — siblings can schedule back-to-back at the same location, which simplifies the week considerably for busy families.
